Visa and Passport Requirements
Passports
CHECK YOUR PASSPORT!
It is a standard requirement for entry into almost any country
that you have a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond
the date you complete your travels. If your passport has only
a few months validity or only a few pages remaining, it may
be wise to apply for a new one before you set off. Bear in
mind that visas, plus entry and exit stamps, can be large
– some even take up a whole page. If you need to apply
for a new passport, make sure you do this well in advance
of your travel date.
In many countries you will need to show your passport when
checking into hotels, buying airline tickets, changing money
etc.
MAKE A COPY
It is highly recommended that you make a note of, or better
still, take a photocopy of your passport details (passport
number, visa number and place and date of issue of both.)
Keep this information separate from your passport. If you
lose your passport you must report it at once to your tour
leader and he/she will help you report it to the local police
and the nearest embassy or consulate of your country.
Visa Requirements
Nepal: All nationalities bar Indians require a visa for Nepal.
Visas are obtainable from embassies abroad or on arrival at
Kathmandu's Tribhuvan airport. If getting the visa at the
airport be prepared for long queues. You will also need to
provide one passport photo and the following fees in US dollars
only: A single entry visa valid for 60 days - US$30: A multiple
entry visa valid for 150 days - US$80
Please note regulations and costs do change frequently so
it is advisable to check the current rules with your nearest
Nepalese embassy or consulate. For information on the location
of your nearest embassy or consulate we recommend the following
website:
• Tibet: For China - Tibet, we arrange these for you
as part of the service for all tours including the fixed departures,
but we begin the paperwork one month before the tour, so please
send us your details early.
We need a copy of the details page of your passport. Most
convenient is a scan saved as a JPEG file of around 100kb
size. If you book less than one month in advance there is
an additional $25 fee.
• Bhutan: We will arrange the Bhutan visa for you.
You must provide us on booking with your full name, passport
number, date of issue, validity, occupation, nationality,
date of birth and home address. The Bhutanese visa is then
issued on arrival at Paro Air port on submission of 2 passport
sized photographs. You will be charged a visa fee by the officials
at Paro airport of US$ 20 per person. This is payable in US
dollars cash only.
Morocco: UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland,
and many EC passport holders do not require a visa to enter
the country, and will be granted a 3 month stay from the date
of entry. This information was correct at the time of writing.
However it is advisable to recheck the latest information
regarding your specific visa requirements with your local
Moroccan Embassy or Consulate, a few weeks before your planned
date of travel.
For information on the location of your nearest embassy or
consulate we recommend the following website:
• Cambodia: Visas are required by all nationalities.
As regulations change frequently we strongly advise you to
obtain your visa in advance, however visas can usually also
be obtained at the border or at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap International
Airports. A 30 day Cambodian visa cost between US$20 and US$30
depending if you are entering via land or air. The fee should
be paid in the currency of the country you are entering from
(i.e. Thai Baht or Vietnamese Dong) if you enter via land
and in US$ if you enter via air. You will also need to provide
a passport photo.
Please note: Visa regulations can change at very short notice.
It is very important that you contact your nearest Cambodian
Embassy or Consulate for up to date information shortly before
you travel. For information on the location of your nearest
embassy or consulate we recommend the following website:
• India: At the time of writing all nationalities require
a visa to enter India, they are not available at port of entry
but must be obtained in advance. It your responsibility to
arrange visas before you travel, sometimes your travel agent
can assist you.
